NOREP -- Notice of Recommended Educational Placement

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

The NOREP is the last part of the IEP (Individual Education Plan.) When it is signed it makes the IEP the official plan for that particular child for the coming 12 months. When parents sign it, they are agreeing to the placement, the goals and the specially designed instruction that will define their child's special education program.

If the parents don't agree with your recommendations, or they want their child to go to a special school, they may decide to go to Due Process. In that case, the child's previous IEP stays in force until it is resolved.
