Definition: When a child is declared exceptional, there are often 'related services' that essential to meet the needs of the child. These related services refer to items like: transportation (for severe behavior or wheelchair access etc.), audiological services, speech and language pathologists referal and support, psychological services, occupational and or physio services, social emotional services, interpreter, rehabillitation counseling etc. Essentially, anything that may be required to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education will be considered a related service. Note, this does not include devices or assistive technologies but it could include support to use technology or devices.
