More Developmental Reading

As promised, I reorganized my categories to add one for middle school and high school.  It is designed to provide strategies to support students in general ed and content classes.  This second article lays out "text features," which serve as important tools in reading comprehension and studying content area texts.  High stakes tests require that your students can identify the text features and use them to understand reading passages.

I will be adding articles on using text features as part of study strategies as well as part of approaching and accessing content in non-fiction and text books.  I have always been in resource rooms and self contained programs, but have offered support to my middle school students in general ed classes.  Understanding how to read and use a science or social studies text is critical.  I plan to also add resources in graphic organizers and "guided notes."
