What You Need to Know about FBA (Functional Behavior Assessment)

Saturday December 20, 2008
An FBA is really just a defined process of understanding the root or reason for the child's behavior. When developing an FBA, the targeted behaviors are identified, a hypothesis is formed about why the behavior occurs, a functional analysis is done to test the hypothesis formulated and then a behavior support plan is developed which is then monitored to determine progress or if different strategies need to be implemented. Here is a typical functional behavior assessment form to use when meeting with the child's parents and or support staff.
