Fountas and Pinnell write some of the best books I've seen on literacy (spelling, phonics, writing, reading) This particular resource focuses on K-3 readers and is an excellent guide not only for readers who struggle but for all learners. This resource shows how to implement a great literacy program and how to focus on word study to improve student performance in early language. This book helps you to become a pro at teaching the essential skills in literacy to most students.

I need info on reading skills, a special school devoted on learning to read, or tutors to help an eleven year old who is main streamed. In fifth grade. No physical handycaps. Has a fantastic memory and learns by visual. Darling boy, great personality, but he needs to learn to read. Willing to take him anywhere in U.S. for this.
I have experiencced where the learning material was been lowered for the disabled student and not raised back up for the “Normal” student. This leaves the normal student bored and wanting for more when the former didn’t need to happen in the first place.
