Everyday Words for Literacy Support this Summer

Friday July 11, 2008
Over 50 - 75% of the most commonly used words are found on the Dolch Lists, originally developed by Edward W. Dolch. These words are important to learn at an early age and will help to pave the way to support literacy skills. Many struggling learners or students with special learning needs tend to backslide (lose some of the year's skills) over the holidays. To help these learners retain their literacy skills, you may want to consider doing some of the Dolch Activities or some of the Dolch Cloze (fill in the blank) activites. A little review of the Dolch words each day will go a long way to support a strong foundation in literacy.
