Struggling Readers

Here are a few pointers to helping struggling readers become successful both at home and school. Key to helping struggling readers is setting them up for success. First of all it is important to understand the signs and symptoms of struggling readers. You'll also want to have a better understanding of what the expected level of reading is. To support a reader, try the 9 steps listed here. You may also want to try some of the 20 minute activities. Finally, be sure to pay attention to the reader's miscues as they will become key to helping you intervene with effective strategies.
